Chennai IT Park Latest News - by end of 2010

Anticipating a surge in the Information Technology sector next year, the State government is readying five IT parks/ IT Special Economic Zones for launch between April and December.

“The biggest IT park in Tamil Nadu, the Sholinganallur IT park, will be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister M.K.Stalin in April,” said Information Technology Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna, after an inspection of the park on Tuesday morning. The IT park in Coimbatore would be ready by June and IT parks in Tirunelveli, Chennai and Tiruchi by the end of the year, she added.

Chennai IT Park Latest News - by end of 2010

Allotment orders to the Top IT Companies - HCL, Satyam, Sutherland, Scope, Tessolve, Honeywell etc., in Chennai IT Park

Chennai IT Park was in PAPER and DOCUMENTs so far.

Now, it is becoming reality.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Kalaignar M Karunanidhi had allotted lands to the top IT companies from HCL, Sathyam, Sutherland, Scope, Tessolve and Honeywell in Chennai IT Park in Vadapalanji.

Chennai is on the IT revolution right now. Karunanidhi granted allotment orders for 160 acres in Chennai, Tirunelveli, Tiruchi and in Chennai, to top 8 companies that have come forward to set up shop in IT Parks being set up by the state owned Electronics corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT).

The IT companies have surely realised that they stand to gain by moving to the IT SEZs in Tier II cities, like the ones in Chennai, Tirunelveli(Nanguneri SEZs) and Tiruchi. As the STPI benefits will last only till 2010, the IT SEZs are the preferred destinations as companies can enjoy benefits for 10 more years.

As years go by, if the cities progress, the city moves to upper tiers.
The four tiers are Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3 and Tier-4 cities.

For example, Tier-1 constitutes Chennai. Tier-2 constitutes Coimbatore, Chennai, Trichy etc., Tier-4 constitutes Dindigul.

Coimbatore is a strategic development centre for Cognizant like software companies, similar to the ones we have in Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Cognizant is committed to grow the centre, leveraging the rich talent pool of technical professionals in the region.

Chennai to contribute to TN(Tamil Nadu) software exports in year 2009

The special economic zones for IT-ITeS industry in Coimbatore, Chennai, Tiruchirapalli, Salem, Tirunelveli, Hosur and Vellore announced by the state government were with an intention of increasing the software exports, Tamil Nadu State Chief Minister Karunanidhi said.

Tamil Nadu's software exports are expected to cross Rs 26,000 crore during the current fiscal, state Chief Minister said in Chennai. Rs 14,400 crore in 2005-06, rose to Rs 20,700 crore during the previous fiscal.

It is expected to rise again to Rs.26000 Crore for the year 2009.

Chennai to contribute to TN(Tamil Nadu) software exports in year 2009

The special economic zones for IT-ITeS industry in Coimbatore, Chennai, Tiruchirapalli, Salem, Tirunelveli, Hosur and Vellore announced by the state government were with an intention of increasing the software exports, Tamil Nadu State Chief Minister Karunanidhi said.
