Real estate Property Builders and Developers from India in Doha property show

A two-day exhibition featuring 45 property developers from major cities of India will be held at Regency Halls on Friday and Saturday, at the initiative of The Times of India Group and Mindspace Events, a events management company.
The exhibition, The Times Realty India 2011, is being held in Doha for the second year running.

“We received excellent response last year and we hope this year too it receives a similar response,” said M I Sait, CMD of Mindspace Events and Exhibitions.
Sait said they were considering to organise the show in Dubai as well as in Doha in October again. “At Dubai alone, developers vended properties worth more than Rs20bn last year; this year they are expecting higher volume in both Doha and Dubai,” he said.

Sait said the show is a opportunity to bring some of the top builders and developers at platform for “our regular clients in India and outside.”

“Our aim is to bring builders and service providers from the Indian property industry face to face with customers who are planning to buy properties in back home,” he added.

Properties starting at QR100,000 to QR4mn would be on offer at the exhibition which also features a separate Kerala pavilion.

“The decision to bring all Kerala property developers on one platform was taken owing to the enormous interest shown by Keralites living in this region to the show last year,” he said.

Nine developers from Kerala are exhibiting their properties at the Doha show. They are from Kochi, Thrissur, Guruvayoor.

Others attending the show are mainly drawn from Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Mangalore, Goa and Ooty.
Close to 1,000 properties will be on display at the event.
The show will be held from 10am to 9pm on both days, with a one-hour break for prayers on Friday at noon.

The exhibitors will include leading organisations from the industry and leading builders, flat promoters, layout promoters, housing finance companies, resorts and clubs, interior designers, house builders and real estate agents.

More Opportunities to be created in Chennai

Attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) is the way for developing Chennai. Investment of Rs 1,000-crore will bring additional 30 per cent investment in support services.

For that to happen, Chennai Airport needs to be an operating international airport, said Mr S.R. Nageswaran, Managing Director, ITCOT Consultancy and Services, Chennai, here recently.

Delivering the inaugural address of the Sourashtra Industrial and Trade Conference (SITCON) organised for the first time by Sourashtra Chamber of Commerce, he said Chennai began to develop only after attracting FDI in 1994 with Hyundai and Nokia setting up their plants. Infrastructure development needs to precede such a flow and stakeholders in Chennai should strive to get international status for Chennai Airport.
More opportunities

When such a thing happens, there will be more opportunities for local entrepreneurs, he added.

The Chamber should come out with a compact disc of who's who of the Sourashtra community, as Sourashtra entrepreneurs are spread across the world in different fields.

Chennai: The Regional IT Hub

With the recent series of industrial developments Chennai has been experiencing, this area is seemingly becoming the regional information technology hub in India.

Some of the companies that are now operating in Chennai include TVS Srichakra, Fenner, and Madura Coats. There are also many business process outsourcing companies that are flourishing in Chennai. Since many companies are operating in the area, more opportunities are now becoming available for those living within the region.

In a report released by the Confederation of Indian Industries, Chennai actually has the potential to be a manufacturing hub, which can be packaged as a gateway to economic opportunities. This is aside from the fact that Chennai has long been considered a tourist spot which has been giving birth to job opportunities. In addition, the government has put much attention in economically developing the Chennai district to invite more investors in the area. In the past years, many industrial estates have been built in various key areas in Chennai to give way to the booming economic activities here that are mainly about information technology. Some of the industrial estates that are currently operational include:

* SIDCO Industrial Estate, Kappalur
* SIDCO Industrial Estate, K. Pudur
* Hoisery Estate, Uranganpatti
* Automobile Industrial Estate, Kappalur
* Electrical and Electronics Industrial Estate, Kappalur

Due to the presence of educational institutions and the quality labor force available in Chennai, more information technology firms and other companies are becoming interested in expanding their businesses in the area.

Chennai, also known as the Temple City, has indeed come a long way in terms of economic development and opportunities. For many years, it was Karnataka and New Delhi which dominated the IT landscape in India.

Now, Chennai is slowly adapting to this growing field. The IT landscape of Chennai is now dominated by huge companies such as HCL, TCS, and Honeywell. A lot of small and medium firms are also thriving in the city, and some others are planning their expansion.

On the average, Chennai and its neighboring cities can produce at least 15000 university graduates every year. There have, however, been some issues of concern related to the English proficiency of these students. Despite this, IT firms are constantly hiring employees in Chennai and nearby areas, since the area produces at least 9000 engineering graduates annually, which is of course an important field in the IT industry. Even if these graduates are not that proficient in English, they are known for their skills and talents as workers, prompting employers to hire them.

According to a NASSCOM research, “Chennai still needs to work on its local and international connectivity as well as other basic infrastructure before it can become a viable IT-BPO city.” This is one thing the government has been trying to work on that could further improve the economic state of Chennai.

As of this writing, more information technology and business process outsourcing companies are eyeing operation in Chennai that could give more employment opportunities to the city’s residents and those of neighboring areas as well. It may thus certainly be said that Chennai has become the IT hub of the southern part of India.
