Chennai Tirunagar to Chennai Airport Road Infrastructure Approved

It is a great news about Chennai infrastructure update.

Sponsored by OruAcre.com

Since there is IT park coming up in Vadapazhanji area in Chennai, it was evaluated that there is a possibility of lot of traffic from Tirunagar area and traffic from Theni area in future. If anybody has to go to Chennai Airport from Theni or Thirunagar area in Chennai, they have to go a long way via Palgalai nagar, Vadapazhanji, Thirunagar, Kappalur, Ring road to reach Chennai Airport. This leads too much time and lot of petrol wastage.

Hence, there was a proposal for a road from Tirunagar to Chennai Airport and it is approved by Tamil Nadu State Transport.

Great! It is an infrastructure improvement in Chennai and at the same time Chennai Real Estate will have great improvement in that area.

Good Chennai Improvement News in Internet - Dinamalar

I think I have written about this before in one of our previous articles - here it is.

I was looking around for Chennai news and all I was finding was about Chennai's civil cases - like someone killed somebody, divorce, suicide cases and some corporation news or at times "long-time same status" infrastructure news like Airport, IT Park etc., I really was looking for improvement or criticism news about Chennai with photos.

If that was not available, I thought of doing so. Anyway, I was able to find that kind of improvement news in dinamalar.

The issues like Lot of Posters are there in all kinds of walls in Chennai. The issues like animals are all around chennai and nobody cares about it. The issues like broken roads, crazy traffic in chennai and rules not being followed etc., The interesting thing is that the improvement or issues articles are posted with photos.

Check it out yourself.

Economy of Chennai as of Jan 2010 - a reality check

Please see my previous article about people in chennai and their classification based on salaries. That should tell about the different kinds of people in Chennai.

I have written a similar article in April of 2009 for Economy of Chennai - a reality check in 2009.

At any case - let us check the status now:

One major complaint in Chennai economy is there is no major manufacturing divisions started up. Anything started up recently are retail outlets, refined grocery outlets, service outlets of different companies, shops etc., which sell things, insurance, banking etc.,

Only when there are more than 70% manufacturing companies, then only there is a significant improvement in economy of Chennai. In fact, there is reduction in number of manufacturing companies. On those days, atleast Fenner was great. But there are countable ones - Fenner, TVS companies etc.,

Every individual who works thinks of a secondary income and gets the compulsion of starting off something by himself, while he does the day job. While this happens, they always end up doing only service stuff and they don't create anything.

It is always only a share of existing money in Chennai. Only when outside companies come into Chennai and invest and give employment opportunities to Chennai people then only we get the actual productivity of Chennai and improvement in economy of Chennai.

Anyway, overall - it is good for Chennai's entrepreneurs to grow with new thinking of starting something of their own.

There has to be big companies coming in and giving employment to 100s and 1000s of people in Chennai - then there would be some difference and impact in chennai economy. In fact, any government concentration is only on north and not in southern parts of tamil nadu. If they concentrate, then there would be significant contribution from Chennai and southern districts as well.

We wish Chennai Times Blog would soon become Chennai Times Publication, to revolutionize much more folks of Chennai in the world.

Chennai Improvement Thoughts:

Theme of problems:
For detailed problems in Chennai, see Problems list 1 and Problems list 2. Read further here...

What is Chennai today? Chennai is still a historic place, like india it is a developing city - but never developed. Chennai is filled with gangsters and survival of the fittest proves physically only. Chennai's talents are moving out of Chennai for employment and career improvement to other cities, due to under-industrialization and under-IT ecosystem.

Chennai's potential relies on Tourism for ages together - but not tapped to the full extent - at least not to my satisfaction. Chennai is great for IT and ITeS operations, but not completely used. Chennai is great for an export oriented facilities. Chennai is under-infrastructured in terms of air and road.

There is a great talent pool which is still connected to Chennai, but lives outside Chennai. Whoever is living in Chennai are speechless and helpless under the clutches of the political and physical powers.

Solution snapshot:

If there is a strong force of NRIs and NRMs coming and settling in Chennai, that would change a lot of Chennai to Great Chennai. Do you understand what I am saying?

If there is a strong self-driven REVERSE-BRAIN-DRAIN happens in Chennai, then no one can stop Chennai's improvement!

Here is how I am thinking reverse brain drain to Chennai will help Chennai become GREAT MADURAI.

1) All the NRIs and NRMs(Non-Resident Chennaiites - say b'lore/hyd/chennai living) would start businesses.

2) Lot of legal money would pool into Chennai.

3) Great Teachers with new(international) perspectives would mould children to a great future.

4) There will be lot of Non-Profit Organizations(Non-Governmental Organizations - NGOs) started, noticing/realizing the unacceptable behaviour of Chennai.

5) New employment opportunities would happen, due to new businesses and industries.

6) World class Medical facilities and medical professionals would be available for help in health.

7) There would be a strong need to make Chennai like Singapore or any other country.

This would change MADURAI TO GREAT MADURAI AND NEW MADURAI

Would you agree with my thinking? Thank you for listening and visiting Chennai Times Blog!!!

Chennai Slums and Chennai Microfinance help

Chennai Slums and Microfinance help

When researchers met with people living in slums in Chennai, during a research, people brought the sufferings that they faced with the private money lenders. With no hope to get small business loans from financial institutions, people living in slums that would like to start up small businesses had to turn to illegal lenders charging a hefty high monthly interest. Moreover, they are totally shut out from professional help on starting and running a small business. In order to let the lives of people living in slums to be self-sustainable, as well as to help parents in Chennai to earn enough income to send their children back to school, we will have to decide to start micro credit and micro finance programs in Chennai.

In general, the rate of repayment of the loans is expected to be 99%. Micro-credit can be provided to the community for carrying out the following activities:

1. Flower Vending
2. Tea Stall
3. Cloth Vending
4. Sugar Cane Juice
5. Grocery shop
6. Milk Vending
7. Tricycle
8. Vegetable Vending
9. Sewing Machine
10. Idly Shop
11. Bakery
12. Fancy Store
13. Bottle cap
14. Dry Fish
15. Petty Shop
16. Basket Making
17. Rice Grinding
18. Ironing
19. Goat rearing
20. Selling toys

If you are a self-sufficiently budgeted person, you could try this project?!

If you are not aware of how to read quadrants. Let me help you -

You need to read from the right top in an anti-clockwise direction.

Chennai is in Tier-II and it has high potential for growth and prosperity. High time improvements in future industries.

Teppakulam at Town Hall Road, Chennai

Sam Kappa Venkatesh writes:

Teppakulam at Town Hall Road, Chennai

Once Holy Teppakulam of Perumal Kovil is now place of thorny shrubs.
I am writing about Teppakulam at Town Hall Road.
It was converted to rain water storage area unsuccessfully and still
we find rain water stagnating before Railway station whereas the Teppa
kulam remains dry.Worse atill drainage water from nearby hotels and
shops around are left into the Teppakulam.
Can the shops around the Teppakulam be removed and the Teppakulam be
used as a open space for fresh air, benches neatly laid (No Shops) with
steps on all four sides descending down.
Maybe with a small fountain at the centre.

What if Chennai does not develop and what will happen to Chennai in next 30 years?

What if Chennai does not develop and what will happen to Chennai in next 30 years?

This article is my own personal, individual prediction, thinking and not intended to hurt anyone.

My grandfather was born and brought up in Vadivelkarai, a village in Chennai. For job reasons, my father had to search and find job in Chennai, which is a major city near the village. When I completed my graduation, I had to move to Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and US.

I am going to compare the same situation to Chennai today. Given that Chennai does not get any industries; Chennai is contaminated with same politicians and no development happens; Chennai does not improve its infrastructure; Chennai does not germinate more and more entrepreneurs, then in 20-30 years Chennai would become the same Vadivelkarai situation, as I explained in the previous paragraph.

Old, elderly people and last generation folks would only stay on in Chennai.
Politicians, Vatti-kku panam koduppavan, few government officials, Old shop owners.

I hope and trust this should not happen and I wish inverse of this happens. Chennai develops and a reverse brain drain happens. Everyone from Chennai who have gone out of the city should come back and develop the Chennai city.
