IBM India commenced its operations at Kochi on Thursday, thereby expanding its reach to 41 cities across the country.
The Kochi unit would enable the company to cater to the unique requirements of the various small and medium business (SMB) clients spread across non-metros in India, Mr Lingraju Sawkar, Vice-President, SMB, IBM India, said at a press meet.
Kochi is the first branch expanded by IBM in South India and there are plans to open more such branches at Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, Chennai and Goa shortly, he added.
IBM claims there are 30000 SMB customers, which is a huge potential market very much not tapped very properly.
