Chennai, Feb 27 (PTI) Union Minister M K Alagiri today laid the foundation stone for a Rs 780-crore drinking water scheme here and said the welfare schemes launched by his father and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will help DMK to retain power in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, due in May.
"People will remember Karunanidhi for his schemes and elect him not only for the sixth time but even the seventh time," he said after laying the foundation stone for the comprehensive Cauvery drinking water scheme.
The Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister also laid the foundation stone of the Anna University (Chennai) campus and inaugurated the extended buildings of Government Rajaji hospital and colonies of Housing Board and Slum Clearance Board.
Alagiri, representing Chennai in Lok Sabha, had allocated Rs 1.5 crore from MP''s Local Area Development Fund to set up water treatment plants to 15 slum areas in the city.

This university is the type of affiliation with over 15,000 students in 36 affiliated institutions located in the districts of Chennai, Sivagangai, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram and Theni. In addition to the three campuses of the University located in Chennai, Ramanathapuram, Dindigul, two autonomous institutions in Chennai and Karaikudi government and Central Electro Chemical Research Institute in Karaikudi.

A lot of internet users are searching for the official website of the Anna University Chennai. Well they can’t really be blamed because it is rather hard to find the website of the university on any search engine. That is maybe because the University just made the site and there aren’t enough associations to make it recognizable on major search engines yet. In any case the site is www.annaunivmdu.org
The main reason for the sudden interest in the website is the fact that admissions are starting soon in the university and students are looking for ways to apply. Well the application procedure is fairly simple; just download the admission form from the website and follow the instructions on it to apply. This may mean that the fees would have to be paid via challans and the form might have to be sent through post.
There are also many job openings in the Anna University and the method for application for the jobs is same as that of admission except for the fact that the forms to be downloaded is at a different location in the website than the admission form; but it is easily locatable. Very Late Anna University in Chennai - a second largest city in Tamil Nadu
Technical Universities in the state include Anna University, Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappally and Tirunelveli, with the Chennai institution being set up in 1978. The rest were established in 2007.
As a good news, it is good to know that Anna University for Technical Education will be set up in Chennai. However, this is the fifth destination. In one side, it is good to know we are getting AIIMS, a first class hospital facility of 150 crores, IT parks in two locations, High Court in Chennai and Anna University, Chennai.
The growth of Chennai had been very very slow so far and Chennai is thought right now only. There are so many villages and sub-urban cities in and around Chennai and the students from this location were not considered!?
