Akshaya Tritiya or Akshaya Trithiya is one of the most auspicious days for Hindus. Akshaya Tritiya 2011 date is May 6, Friday. Akshaya Tritiya 2011 is even more auspicious as it falls on Friday. One is the first thithi of the Chaitra Month (Ugadi Day), second is the tenth thithi of the Lunar month Ashwin or Aswayuja masam (Vijaya Dashami Day) and the third one is the third thithi of Vaishakha masa, the Akshaya Tirtiya Day. It is also referred as Unboojha Muhurat.
What is the Importance and Significance of Akshaya Tritiya as per the Hindu Mythology?
As per the Hindu religious texts and epics, the Thretha Yuga was started on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, Hindus also observe the birthday of Lord Parasurama, the sixth incarantion of Lord Sri Maha Vishnu.
As mentioned in the Vedas, on the day of Akshaya Trithiya, along with Lord Ganesha Sage Veda Vyasa initiated writing the great epic, Mahabharata. Puranas describe the day of Akshaya Trithiya is the birthday of Lord Parasurama (Lord Parasurama Jayanthi). The Hindu scriptures and other sacred texts explained the greatness of Lord Parasuram.
On the day of Akshaya Tirtiya, Lord Shri Balarama Jayanthi (birthday of Lord Sri Balaram) is also celebrated. Balarama was the elder brother of Lord Sri Krishna. Lord Balaram is significantly known with his weapon ‘Hal. Lord Balarama is also referred as one of the Dasavatara, ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
What are the Rituals, Customs and Traditions of Akshay Tritiya?
Akshay Tritiya festival is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Worship of Lord Vishnu on Akshay Tritiya eradicates and removes ones sins and makes him free from all sorrows. Puranas described that Devotees who perform Sri Maha Vishnu Puja on Akshay Tritiya may attain salvation.
In some regions, devotees keep fasts on Akshaya Tritiya. As per the Puranas, charity of food, clothes and other edible material on Akshaya Tritiya is also considered as most important ritual of the festival. There is a ritual to perform Goddess Tulsi Puja on Akshay Tritiya in some regions of India.

Thangamayil Jewellery opens a new showroom in Anna Nagar Chennai
Thangamayil Jewellery opens a new show room in Chennai Anna Nagar.
This has become a trend these days. If you have a shop or show room in the main Chennai town area around the temple and in the streets of Chennai Temple area, then now it is time for you to have an office outside the main congested traffic area.
Like where people are staying - like Anna Nagar, Bye-pass road NH-7, Thirunagar etc.,
Opening an outer showroom helps your sales a lot. See for example Saravana Stores has a store in Purasaivakkam, in addition to that of T.Nagar shops in Chennai. Same is applicable with GRT Jewellers - they have a shop in Anna Nagar Chennai as well, in addition to T.Nagar and other ones.
Even in Chennai, Naaihaa shop is there in Bye-pass road; Anantha and Anantha metal stores has a branch in Bye-pass road. In fact, Bye-pass road is picking up a lot in Chennai. OK, coming to the news, Thangamayil Jewellery has opened a show room in Anna Nagar, which is a great step towards more profit, more convenience for people etc.,
I guess, next they should be opening a show room in Bye-pass road as well. No Jewellers has moved out of their Jewellery street in Chennai. This is the first time and this is a new landmark for jewellery retail industry in Chennai.
This will change things more in Chennai, I believe in terms of Retail sales. BTW - Thangamayil Jewellery is a Public company -
Thangamayil Jewellery Ltd opened a new branch at Chennai, Annanagar on March 14, 2011 between 9.30 Am-10.30 Am.
The stock closed the day at Rs.167.05, down by Rs.6.35 or 3.66%. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs.176 and low of Rs.167.
The total traded quantity was 8412 compared to 2 week average of 7929.

Silver is going up - Good Opportunity
Today, we are not looking at Silver, because it is considered still cheap, though it is raising in prices.
Compared to gold, silver is kind of low in our eyes. But you never know - what will be the future. Silver was just Rs.30 bunch of days back. Now it is Rs.55 and gold at around Rs.1940 today.
Just notice the price difference for Silver and just see the silver's chart price!
If you go and buy at Rs.55 for around 20 grams - that comes to around Rs.1100. If you keep repeating that you can gain 1Kg or 2Kg over a period of time or over the years without any strain to your pocket or wallet.
I think that works out - because shelling out Rs.1000 is not a problem then and there. Avoid probably eating out sometimes and you can do this.
Why don't we do this?
All these are my personal advices which struck to my mind and I do not gain anything if you buy gold or silver:)!!!

Instead, here is a strategy to accumulate more gold at home, without any strain to your pocket or wallet or bank account.
1) Set a day in a week or a month for purchase of gold.
2) Fix a reliable Gold Jewellery shop.
3) Enquire the return policy of gold in the jewellery shop and make sure they take back gold for the market rate and no commission out of it.
4) Purchase gold or silver periodically like 1 gram to 2 gram to 4 grams every period - say week or month, depending upon your capability.
5) Remember to buy only gold coin for this purpose, which is only 3% making charge (lowest) and 1% VAT. Prefer to pay in cash, so that you don't get 1% more for Card purchase.
6) Say for example - you buy 4 grams of gold every month OR 1 gram every week - you end up with 6 sovereigns of GOLD at the end of the year.
7) Cultural point - we associate our daughters with gold for some reason. Hence, when the child gets born, and you start doing this activity of purchasing gold in denominations, you end up with 120 sovereigns of gold by 20 years of your daughter's age!
8) In this, you don't have to worry about Gold price going down or going up. Your cost gets averaged and you don't get disturbed by any ups and downs. Mental peace and also you get the asset of GOLD, which is never changing and always increasing ASSET.

9) Well, at last don't forget to have a locker opened in your local bank. You will have to store the precious metals in the Bank locker and not in your home. That is a danger for every one and that might lead to loss!
